    Current Iowa Continuing Education Requirements

    Starting Feb 7th, 2018, the Iowa Board of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences requires every licensee must complete 6 hours every 2 year license cycle. A minimum of 2 hours of the 6 hours shall be in the prescribed practice discipline and a minimum of 2 hours of the 6 hours shall be in the content areas of Iowa cosmetology law and rules and sanitation.

    General Criteria For Continuing Education

    A continuing education activity which meets all of the following criteria is appropriate for continuing education credit if the continuing education activity:

    1. Constitutes an organized program of learning which contributes directly to the professional competency of the licensee;
    2. Pertains to subject matters which integrally relate to the practice of the profession;
